We punched in Versailles to the GPS navigation system in the Audi station wagon and were off for a day trip to the most famous Chateau in France. We actually ran out of camera juice about half way through the day so some stuff will only live on in our memories. Hopefully some of these photos will do justice to the modest dwelling of Louis XIV.
You should be able to make out the castle there in the middle of the picture.
The Hall of Mirrors. Although we didn't capture a mirror in this picture you can trust us that they were there and they were spectacular. Actually, a more traditional photo of this hall wasn't possible due to the massive restoration that wont be complete until 2007. Fun fact: The Treaty of Versailles was signed in this room.
The gardens were probaby just as cool as the castle. There wasn't a ton of life out there in the winter but I saw the potential. This was the view from the Queen's bedroom.
Speaking of Queens. Here's a vision of Marie-Antoinette that materialized after Chiz accidentally snapped a photo of a bare wall. Royalty was coming out of the woodwork in this place.

The puppet show never did take place. No, this actually is something. If you guess correctly you win 'royal points' valid for discounts on all chizzyandbryan.com merchandise.
That's the bed the king slept in. Ben Franklin was caught jumping on this bed during his visit in 1781.
I'm pretty sure the audio guide I heard in my headset said the King went to Mass everyday. I guess having this chapel just down that hall was a major convenience.
The gardens really were amazing. This picture still doesn't do justice to the size of them. That building way down to the right where the lake starts was a cool restaurant where we ate lunch.
Congratulations. You reached the end of this entry and are rewarded with this artsy photo of trees.
What is the chair with the side handles? Is it the Queen's Taxi? What are the gifts available in the chizzyandbryan catalog? Too many questions? How are you doing? Guess who?
