Before I get into all the Lucerne stuff, let me first introduce you to the new Chizzy and Bryan.

Can you tell what's different?
Now onto Lucerne...the land of milk. At least we know it best from the dairy products. We didn't see any cows though. It was a very cold day in Switzerland, -10C. We were chilled to the bone, but managed to walk around most of the town pretty quickly. Not much to be seen here, but quite a beautiful city. It is the most visited city in Switzerland, but I imagine that is during the summer when you can swim, hike, check out the medieval wall, milk some cows, etc.

Ahhh...the beauty.

We found a museum that had a cool mirror maze. It was fun bumping into mirrors and random strangers. I literally didn't know which Bryan to follow.

Bryan's worst nightmare.

The Lion Monument. Impressive monument to remember 900 Swiss Guard soldiers who died defending Louis XVI in 1792. Apparently, they weren't even told the king had already escaped from the castle they were guarding so they died for nothing. Thanks again France.

More scenery.

We're standing on what was once the oldest wood bridge in Switzerland. Unfortunately there was a fire in the 80s and the original bridge burnt down. So really, we're just standing on the replica.

Couldn't pass up this photo op.

We got back to our nice, warm flat and treated ourselves to some homemade fondue. We still don't have all of our boxes, where our fondue pot is located, so we splurged a little and got this souvenir pot. The rest of the contraption came with the apartment. It's a must-have for every Swiss family. It was deeeeeee-lish.
The difference is that Cheryl looks more glamorous and Bryan looks younger. Bryan looks the most glamorous of both of you in the first photo - ha ha ha. No-goat is nice... how long has it been?
That lion is awesome! I can't tell the scale but it looks pretty big.
Keep up the good posts! I like seeing the trips and everyday life.
Bryan, March 6, 2005 06:25 PM:Yeah, that lion is pretty large. We didn't put up the photo that we are in so you could get perspective but I'd say that alcove he's carved in is about 15 ft. high.
I knew I could count on a few of you to recognize the David Brent pose in the first photo. I guess it's probably been about 6 years with the goatee.
Shelbster, March 7, 2005 11:36 PM:I didn't catch the David Brent pose but now that you mention it, very funny Bryan. I love the new looks! Good before and after photos too.
Sarah, March 8, 2005 01:47 AM:Cheryl, your bangs look great! Did you get some layers, too. So glam! ;) Bryan does look younger without the facial hair. Looks like you're doing great! Take care!
Wheelson, March 8, 2005 07:05 AM:Fondue gear came with the pad? Dude, I'm moving to Switzerland that's all there is to it. The wine keeps you from getting too fat from the cheese right?
The new do's are great. I saw Bryan's different hair cut and thought, "Damn he looks totally different, what a big difference a hair cut makes." but then I realized the REAL difference. In the second photo you're wearing a different shirt.
Fondue Pirate! Yarrr Cheese me hearties!, March 8, 2005 08:58 AM:All you need is for you and Steve to both get mullets and it'll be like the first year I lived in the frat
Mom, March 10, 2005 02:04 AM:I LOVE the new "yous guys"! Cheryl in 3D is pretty cool plus all the other fantastic pictures! Happy Birthday Cheryl!!! Bon Fondue!!
Lorraine, March 11, 2005 01:21 PM:Hi Bryan and Cheryl,
Lorraine, March 11, 2005 01:25 PM:I have been meaning to jot you two a line. I periodically look at your site and really enjoy reading it! It seems as if you two are really adjusting well, and finding lots of adventure in your travels. I am glad you are both getting such an opportunity! Ryan you are such a talented writer, why not write a book of some sort?? When you were writing about soccer I was thinking of that Kasey Keller guy from Lacey who was a big star in England.I loved the pictures of Lucerne as I have been there in the 60"s! The fondue pictures brought back memories too. It was the first time I was introduced to fondue, and loved it! Well, back to bed for me. Keep up the nice postings!
Hi Again,
Bryan, March 12, 2005 10:51 AM:Just sent you two an email, and don't know what happened, it just disappeared! Hope you got it.
Lorraine & Ron
Howdy, Lorraine. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well back in the hometown. That's funny you thought of Kasey Keller. My own little two degrees of separation with him is that my high school soccer coach became his stepdad and our team had a spaghetti dinner at his house. And he was a senior at the rival high school when I was a freshman so I got to play against him. I remember Richard Scott scored a goal on him. I think Richard went to Lydia Hawk.
