We took the train to Neuhausen, about 45 minutes from Zurich. It was about a 25 minute walk from the train station to the falls. This shot is from the approach to the top of the falls. The train goes across that bridge, but you can also walk across to get a better view (which we did of course).

The falls. Not really. Haha. We joked about it because Rheinfalls is the largest in Europe, at only 25 meters high.
Read on to see it...

View from the West bank. We went over to this side first to get the full view of the falls.

Here's a closer look.

Schlosslaufen is the name of this castle. We knew that Schloss meant castle, and found out later that laufen means to walk or to run. Whatever…it was good times.

After spending some time on the West bank, we walked back up to the train bridge and over to Schlosslaufen where we went down about 200 stairs to get a better view of the falls. Check out this video (2.5Mb)

What else can I say about them? Although they’re not tall, the violent waters are cool and getting so close to them was pretty exciting. You can look over the edge and this water is rushing at you, about 400-600 cubic meters per second.

More shots of splish splash.

After our lovely, spring morning at Rheinfalls, one of my favorite excursions so far, we took the train back to Zurich. On our way, we decided to stop for a bite in Winterthur. Winterthur is a small little town in the North part of the canton Zurich. The old town was abundant with people and we found this cute little pizzeria with tables outside.

On our walk back to the train station, we came across a guitar shop. Bryan was so excited, so we took a peek inside and the only product was the display in the window. We're still not quite sure if this was a store or a venue or something.
I can't believe we get no comments on this one. It's one of my faves. We're putting our drunk selves out there for the camera even.

Burnce, March 24, 2005 06:36 PM:This was the best post actually, but don't expect adulation anymore. People have fully moved to the jealousy stage. There's mass castles to see here...Did you hear Jeff sexed Piro's party?
Mom, March 25, 2005 01:28 AM:Hey drunken duo!! I love your stroll [or crawl] down Love Street. The Falls and the Castle are fantastic and scarey!! I'm diggin'it!! chizzy, March 27, 2005 11:34 PM:Okay, so now I feel bad because Bryan told me that it's bad etiquette to solicit comments, so...sorry. But anyway, we didn't see any leprechauns, though we did miss everyone and wish that we could spend St. Patty's with y'all. We miss you all. Chizzy.
